it 用做人稱代詞的用法

it 用作代詞，意為“它”，既可以指人，也可以指物。it 做人稱代詞，可以用來代替一個名詞、短語、從句或句子，以避免他們在句中的重復。這是可以指提到過的，也可以指未提到的，在句中做主語、表語和賓語。

1)指事物， it 可以知道除人以外的任何事物或動物。

I dropped my watch and it broke.我把手表掉在地上摔壞了。

2)指人， it 主用用于指性別不明的嬰兒或只聽其聲不見其人的人，如：

Is it a boy or a girl?是男孩還是女孩?

There is a knock on the door. It must be the postman.

“Listen. Someone is crying..”

“Oh, it must be Mary.”

3)代替某些代詞。

代詞it 可以用于代替指示代詞this, that 以及復合不定代詞something, anything, nothing 等，如：

“What’s this?”

“It’s a new machine”
